Rowe added to TGA Board of Directors

If the last few years has taught us anything it is how important it is having diverse voices sitting at tables where important things are happening. Those seats are very valuable to organizations that are looking to grow and do things better. Every voice matters. I am happy to announce that I have accepted the nomination by Lisa Tatum and the role as a member of the Board of Directors for the Tallgrass Film Association. I have screened 2 films in their past festivals with the “Caveman Evolved” documentary featuring David “Caveman” Rickels and in the 2020 festival our thriller short film “Stay Home”. I attend the festival every year looking to find and support other emerging filmmakers as well as find that sleeper film thats getting buzz.

I have equally been a harsh critic of the TGA because of my involvement as a filmmaker and attendee which was cause for concern when I was offered the nomination. I didn’t feel I was right for that position. I consulted a friend who lectured me about the seats at the table. You can be a critic serving as a loud mouth of grief and criticism for so long but there comes a point where it is on you to take action and be apart of change. This was the opportunity to take action and be action. I am not looking to be the voice of change or wield the iron hammer to be the one that is right. I am looking to be a voice at the table where change can be made on behalf of people like myself as a person of color and as a filmmaker. Those two hats will not be the only hats that a measure from but will be important ones that I am happy to represent.

In Production: While We Wait

Poster Art

Yea I know its like a whole production house over here but we have been secretly working on this production now titled “While We Wait”. The 2020 Election has been full of …well….everything. Locally has had its own challenges in every state in America but in Wichita, Kansas there has been a very unique one that took fold. First time political hopeful Sarah Lopez decided to put her hat in the race against Micheal O’Donnell. This race became one of the states most watched race in local politics in quite some time. This race was watched with constant coverage for corruptions, swindles, and political end fighting.

Something like this is something you look for in the top jobs like races for House seats, Judges, maybe even Mayor. This race filled with so many controversies, was to take over a district in the county commissioners office. Yep. A member of the board of health. It may seem insignificant but it is a lot more than meets the eye. This is a true David vs Goliath story where democrat Sarah Lopez is taking on the Republican establishment that is backed by big money and a strong reputation in a the Red State of Kansas. I am undecided on if this is a feature or a short yet but I am still currently in production with many interviews lined up. Did I mention Covid-19??? That is making shooting very difficult for the additional interviews but we are doing our best to get what we need.

Getting the Covid 19 Coronavirus test..

Loving all the feedback from Stay Home short film but I decided to do something really important and that’s got the Covid 19 Coronavirus test. Locally HealthCore Wichita set up a free testing site for anyone to get tested to see if they had the active virus. After 2 attempts I finally got tested and wanted to share the experience. As a minority and a citizen of a community, I want to know if I was asymptomatic or if my safety practicing has been working to help me avoid the virus.  I don’t want to be a weapon upon others I could come in contact with just because I feel fine.  In the video, I show you the check-in process along with being administered the test as well as some commentary as we wait. I did edit it down some since it was a lot waiting .

Watch Stay Home short film now. Please SHARE SHARE SHARE help me get this message out.

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has watched Stay Home short film. The response has been amazing and bigger than my wildest dreams! I have a goal to get to 100k views we have a long way to go but I have faith! Making Stay Home was a transformative process not just from documentary to narrative but physically as well. I knew that I wanted to go method actor lite with this and show some real hair growth and

bread mangle making this film to show how 14 days could progress. With Stay at Home orders in full effect, there wasn’t any way to get nice shave and haircut so the temptation was low.
Going into the shoot day for bathroom scene I had a decent growth on my beard and neck and my Continue reading
